"Helping Leaders, Teams & Coaches Unlock Their Potential"

Why is motivation so important in your team?

Motivation is critical in the workplace because it drives employee behavior and influences their job performance. When employees are motivated, they are more likely to be engaged, productive, and committed to their work. They are also more fun to be around, generate energy and passion and contribute more to the team culture.

Motivated employees:

  1. Are more productive than those who are demotivated and are more likely to give discretionary effort.
  2. Feel more satisfied with their work and are more likely to enjoy what they do.
  3. Are more creative and innovative; more likely to think outside the box and come up with new ideas to solve problems and improve processes.
  4. Are less likely to miss work or quit their jobs, which means lower absenteeism and turnover rates.
  5. Contribute more to the overall success of the organization by improving productivity, reducing costs, and increasing revenue.

How can I measure my employees’ motivation?

Motivational Maps is a tool and framework designed to help individuals, teams, and organizations identify and understand what motivates people at work. It was created by James Sale, who is a motivational expert, author, and coach.

Motivational Maps is based on the idea that people have different motivators, and understanding these motivators is essential to achieving high levels of motivation, engagement, and performance. The tool uses a questionnaire to measure an individual’s motivators across nine different areas, including achievement, power, creativity, and independence.

After completing the questionnaire, the results are presented in the form of a map, which shows the individual’s motivators and the strength of each motivator. The map is then used to facilitate discussions about how to align an individual’s motivators with their job role and career aspirations.

Motivational Maps can be used in a variety of settings, including coaching, personal development, team building, and organizational development. The tool can help individuals and teams to:

  • Understand what motivates them and others
  • Identify areas of strengths and development
  • Improve communication and collaboration
  • Increase engagement and performance
  • Align job roles and career aspirations with individual motivators
